Biography: Egyptologist – Penn State University – Author, Egypt, Canaan, and Israel in Ancient Times A Canadian Egyptologist and archaeologist, Redford was the editor of The Oxford Encyclopedia of Ancient Egypt, He was also given the award for “Best Scholarly Book in Archaeology” for his work Egypt, Canaan, and Israel in Ancient Times. Currently Professor of Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies at Pennsylvania State University, Redford has directed a number of important excavations in Egypt, notably at Karnak, Mendes and the Kedwa (Qedua) fortress on Egypt’s eastern border.
