She is also a black belt in karate and was the first woman named "Woman of the Year" in the Black Belt Hall of Fame. Evers served as vice president of the Guardian Angels, a community patrol organization, and worked in radio alongside Curtis Sliwa. In the 1980s, she briefly ventured into the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), showcasing her self-defense skills.
