Biography: Robin Kumar Das, born in Balasore, Odisha, is an Indian Actor who is primarily known for Mary Kom (2014), The Goat Life (2024), Indradhanura Chhai (1993), Batla House (2019) and various other movies/TV shows/plays. He is also a Theatre Director/Teacher at National School of Drama, New Delhi and a famous Scenic Designer. He went to Dinabandhu High School (RajBerhampur, Baleshwar) and later studied in the institutions: Shri Ram Center For Performing Arts, University of Hyderabad (Fine Arts), Bhartendu Academy of Dramatic Arts and D N College, graduating from National School of Drama (NSD) in 1976. Renowned actors Vijay Kashyap, KK Raina and Pankaj Kapoor along with the directors like Ranjit Kapoor and Anil Chaudhary were his batchmates in NSD. In the 70s and 80s, working with many important theatre directors from within India and abroad, he made a distinct identity in the field of theatre as an innovative and phenomenal dramatist. Robin Das has exposed many important dimensions of modern Indian theatre through directing in over 50 dramas of different genres. Robin Das is also active as an art director and actor for feature films, television and other mediums of entertainment. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2000 for his contribution to the theatre as a scenic designer.
