Biography: Fernando Paulo Nagle Gabeira (January 17, 1941) is a Brazilian journalist, writer and politician. He began his journalistic career as a reporter at Jornal do Brasil. In 1970, was arrested in São Paulo by the military dictatorship, went into exile and passed through several countries, including Chile, Sweden and Italy. In 1979, returned to Brazil and worked as a journalist and writer. He was a candidate for the government of Rio de Janeiro in 1986; elected federal deputy in 1994 and re-elected in 1998 and 2002. Gabeira dedicated himself to an intense literary production, building the first critical analyzes of the armed struggle and promoting discussions on topics such as individual freedoms and ecology.
