Overview: Joshua visits his grandfather, a survivor of Auschwitz, five days before his tenth birthday. The elder recalls own childhood in polish countryside at his grandparents'. The grandma had many hens, which were real friends for him. As a young boy he was very sad when each Friday he had to choose one hen to be sacrificed as a Sabbath dinner. In his tenth birthday he received one hen as a gift. Now, as an old man, he gives the same gift to Joshua.
