Overview: The Woodcutter and his wife love their son Tom Thumb, even though he is no taller than his mother's thumb! But they are very poor, and so one day when two men offer to buy Tom Thumb to help make their fortunes, Tom tells his father to accept the money, which he does with great misgivings.
