Overview: For his short graduation film Isabelle, Tim Oliehoek filmed Tessa de Loo’s novel of the same title (ten years before Ben Somboogaart made it into a feature film). Oliehoek’s film captures the novel’s fairytale nature in dark, atmospheric photography and displays his preference for the use of archetypes and genre clichés in an economical, attractive narrative.
