Overview: The new era brings with it progress, which must inevitably penetrate even the most remote corners. It has also reached the village of Čirá. The men there have a number of modern machines that make their work in the fields easier, while their wives still toil in the household. One help is readily available - a communal laundry could replace the traditional washcloths. However, the men who rule the municipal council do not want to hear about such spending. So the wives join forces in resistance and resort to severely repressive means...
