Overview: Jack Thompson asks "Boss" Barnet for his daughter's hand, and the wise old man asks him how much money he has in the bank. Jack is embarrassed and the "boss" tells him that when he has $2,500 he will consent to the wedding. The young people are disappointed by the turn of affairs, and to hasten the wedding the girl hits upon a clever ruse.
